The University of Surrey, in collaboration with Butternut Box, seeks a  technically brilliant Animal/Biological Science researcher, to champion a groundbreaking Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Project.

A bit about Butternut Box

We’ve come a long way since our co-founders (Kev & Dave) hand-delivered the first Butternut Box, we now feed a lot of dogs across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Poland - but we want to feed dogs everywhere. And to do this, we need a team of brilliant people who share that ambition to come and work with us.

A bit about the role

This KTP focuses embedding advanced methodologies that incorporate a range of multi-omic biomarkers and health and well-being measures to demonstrate the nutritional benefits for Fresh dog food. This research will drive category growth and solidify Butternut Box’s market leadership.

This unique role is based at the headquarters of Butternut Box in White City, London, and will involve working side by side with a passionate team from Butternut Box and a team of experts from the University of Surrey; Dr Susan Armstrong, and Dr Teresa Hollands from the School of Veterinary Medicine. Combining academic challenges and emerging industry interests, this is an exceptionally exciting time to join a rapidly internationalising, high-growth company.

A bit about you

  • Postgraduate qualification (preferably MSc or PhD) in biological sciences, healthcare economics, or related field with a strong research focus. 
  • Skilled with R (bioinformatics), advanced Excel, data visualisation, and evidence-based research.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a project end-to-end, including balancing technical and strategic aspects, presenting insights via clear reports to stakeholders and translating complex biological concepts for non-technical audiences. 
  • A collaborative and enthusiastic learner, energised by learning new methodologies.
  • You love dogs, naturally.
