The primary purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with an established team of academics to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses, enhancing our portfolio of digital media production and content creation modules.

The successful candidate will combine theoretical knowledge with up-to-date practical skills in digital media production and strong industry insight and networks. They will be passionate about supporting others to develop new knowledge and skills, as well as being an outstanding communicator and strong team player. The post holder will be expected to contribute to a range of teaching, pastoral, and administrative activities across the division and should be adaptable and open to teaching across a range of modules and interdisciplinary programmes.

Applicants would normally be educated to postgraduate level in a relevant subject area and must have relevant professional experience and industry networks within the media and communication industries. We encourage applicants, where possible, to include links to their previous professional work as part of their application. For appointment at Lecturer level, some previous experience of teaching in further education, higher education or a professional context would normally be expected.

While applicants would require knowledge and understanding of the wider field of media and communications, they would be expected to provide the Division with specific knowledge and expertise regarding the creation of digital media content and must be able to teach students the practical and technical skills necessary to work in this area. Therefore, we particularly welcome applications from individuals who can offer practical knowledge and expertise in any of the following areas: digital content creation, website creation and social media management, podcasting, interactive digital design, and digital marketing and campaign management.

Although the post holder will be required to teach across a range of modules, and would eventually develop new modules, at appointment they would be required to contribute to the following: Strategic Communications and Digital Practice, Campaigning and Practice, Digital Content Creation, Digital Communications Campaigning, and Persuasive Communications. Several of these modules are on our successful MSc in Digital Campaigning and Content Creation.

The Division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts offers a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in areas such as Drama, Arts Management, Acting, Costume, Strategic and Political Communications, Film, Media, Digital Marketing and Public Relations. The Division also has several successful collaborations with other organisations delivering QMU validated degree programmes. Staff within the Division submitted to REF 2021 and if the postholder has a track record of relevant research, and wishes to be appointed on a Teaching and Research contract, then they will be able to join the Research and Knowledge Exchange Centre for Culture in Society.

This role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UKVI to enable sponsorship of migrant workers. Therefore, we cannot progress applications from candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK.
