Lecturer in Childhood - Part time (0.7fte)

About you

You will support and contribute to new and existing undergraduate and post-graduate programmes using your practice experience of working with children in Early Years and/or older children and young people. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with experience of working therapeutically with children, as the successful postholder will contribute to our Childhood with Therapeutic play degree. In addition, we would welcome applications with experience of working with children in a health, mental health or other services focusing on children’s wellbeing.

This is an interdisciplinary team and as such there is the opportunity to contribute to other areas, for example: sociology; social work and education. We like people with ideas and there will be ample opportunity for you to develop your interests. We have a strong belief in the transformative power of higher education (and have plentiful evidence to support these beliefs). The successful candidate will share that commitment to enabling our students to achieve their best.

About the team

You will work within a team of experienced and student focussed professionals, to strengthen the distinctiveness of the University’s student experience. You will need to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and positively within a small academic team, and with colleagues in other academic and professional services departments. In addition, we anticipate that you will be able to forge links with external organisations working in the children, young people and families’ sphere.

You will demonstrate excellent teaching methods with the ability to develop a variety of student-centred approaches to learning and teaching.  

This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check, which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.
