We are looking to appoint a Student Recruitment Outreach Officer to join our Post 16 team within Widening Participation and Outreach at the University of Nottingham. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines working with 16-18 year olds and mature students at schools and colleges across the UK, with programme and event planning.

You will support the university’s recruitment and widening participation strategies within the UK, to support aspirations and attract prospective students to the University. This includes building and maintaining relationships with a caseload of schools and colleges from the independent and state sector. You will deliver advice and guidance presentations in schools and online, alongside managing the planning and delivery of projects such as taster programmes, teachers’ conferences and student ambassador schemes.

You will frequently travel to schools and colleges across the UK, some of which are difficult to get to via public transport; therefore you must have a full driving licence, access to your own transport and business insurance. You will have a have a varied workload, including regularly attending evening events with some overnight stays, and occasional weekend work. You can receive overtime payments for a proportion of these additional hours, and equivalent time off work for the rest. As part of the team, you will be invited to collaborate with colleagues on activities such as open days, summer schools; and contribute towards our collaborative working groups which focus on important topics such as equality, diversity, inclusivity, and the environment.

Based at our King's Meadow Campus, the department supports hybrid working with arrangements agreed locally. In practice this means the team balances the working week with some time spent on campus or delivering in schools, and some time spent working from home to support flexibility, recognising that individuals and teams can be effective across different working environments.

You should be a motivated individual with an understanding of the journey to higher education and experience of working with young people. You will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills to engage with a wide range of learners, families and teachers. You will also be experienced in delivering and adapting presentations, organising events, as well as having excellent IT skills to deliver online. You will be skilled in building and developing a strong rapport with colleagues, academic staff, and student ambassadors, working effectively as part of a team to manage a varied and demanding workload.?

This is a permanent, full-time (36.25 hours per week) post.

Interviews are planned to take place on Thursday 12th September. If invited to interview, you will be asked to prepare a presentation in advance of the day.
