The Mental Health Policy Research Unit (MHPRU) is a nationally funded unit which supports the Department of Health and Social Care and relevant Arms’ Length Bodies, by making expert views and evidence available to policymakers in a timely way and carrying out research that is directly useful for policy. The MHPRU team involves academics from UCL, Kings College London and the Univer sity of Birmingham. It was set up in 2017. About the role
You will provide first class secretarial and administrative support to the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Mental Health (MHPRU) team at UCL. This will include organisational support for study team meetings and the MHPRU’s Lived Experience Working Group, as well as help with research project administration and communications. A keen interest in research as well as excellent organisation and attention to detail are essential.
This part time post (0.6 FTE) is funded through the MHPRU until 31 December 2026 in the first instance. The post is graded as Grade 6, the salary for which ranges from £34,605 to £39,980 per annum (pro-rata), including London Allowance, superannuable.
About you
You will have a good general education to A-level standard or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience, and experience of conducting administrative tasks in a busy, complex working environment. Excellent IT skills, organisational skills, written and oral communication skills are essential, as is experience of servicing groups and committees including minute taking. A high level of numeracy, and the ability to liaise with healthcare professionals, to work independently and to handle confidential information and communications is also a requirement.
A degree in social science, psychology or other relevant discipline, experience of working in higher education, mental health, or academic research and knowledge or data protections and GDPR, NHS and University research governance is desirable.
