The Centre for Socio-Legal Studies is looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher to carry out research about the governance of flooding, as a part of a wider socio-legal project on the governance of crises which also includes qualitative empirical case studies on public health governance.

The successful applicant will report to Assoc. Prof. Bettina Lange and will manage their own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, and co-ordination of multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. They will analyse interview data and data derived from public policy documents, also through use of NVivo software; collect qualitative data through semi-structured interviews in the UK and Germany, which will involve travel to various interview locations; collaborate in the preparation of research publications, such as journal articles and book chapters and present papers at conferences and workshops with stakeholders.

Applicants should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, have the ability to manage a discrete area of a research project, and associated activities and have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, and present research results and proposals. It would be desirable for candidates to have experience of actively collaborating in the development of research articles for publication.

The post is full time and fixed term for 24 months and the postholder will be based at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Manor Road, Manor Road Building, OX1 3UQ.
