The Foundation for International Education (www.fie.org.uk) is an international higher education organisation with over 25 years of expertise in developing and managing experiential learning experiences. Working in partnership with universities and colleges, primarily from the US, we provide immersive study abroad programmes for undergraduate students in London, Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona and Amman.

FIE is currently seeking qualified, enthusiastic and competent applicants for the following full-time, permanent position within the Student Life department.

Location: South Kensington, London, England

Preferred Start Date: Tuesday, 1st October.

Interviews: In London, early September.

Job Summary: The Residence Life Manager will be responsible for fostering a safe, as well as stimulating, study abroad experience by providing support, information and guidance to students while operating as a support to the Residence Life Team. The RLM is responsible for operational delivery both inside and outside the residence hall. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will on occasion include evenings and weekends. Some of the primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting the team of live-in FIE Residence Life Supervisors (RLS)
  • Developing and conducting RLS training and professional development opportunities
  • Managing housing and room allocations, and requested housing accommodations
  • Assisting the Director of Student Life with regular review and updates of residential policies and procedures, handbooks, training materials and distributed information
  • Managing FIE’s Code of Conduct processes and procedures, including the facilitation of conduct hearings
  • Liaising with the appropriate departments regarding students with medical, mental and/or emotional health concerns, cultural adjustment issues, and other pastoral care
  • Creating and distributing the RLS on-call rota, providing Residence Reports, and conducting health and safety rounds of the residences

Desired Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent; Master’s preferred
  • Experience working with students in housing, accommodation and/or Residence Life
  • Competence in working both independently and within a team environment; supervisory experience preferred
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with high standards of service provision
  • Innovation, initiative, resourcefulness, creativity and an eye for detail
