The UCL Department of Computer Science is one of the leading computer science research departments in the UK. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation, UCL Computer Science was ranked 2nd in the UK for research power and 1st in England. It carries out research, undergraduate, and postgraduate teaching across all areas of theoretical and applied computer science.

GDI Hub is a world-leading research and practice centre of disability innovation. It hosts the world’s first and only World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre on Assistive Technology and the first MSc Disability, Design & Innovation programme. It has a research and innovation portfolio of nearly £100m and is operational in 33 countries. About the role

Global Disability Innovation Hub is a research and practice centre driving disability innovation for a fairer world. It is part of the department of Computer Science and hosts the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre on Assistive Technology. We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join our innovative and creative team. The post will be one of the first cohort of fellowships associated with version 3 of the FCDO funded AT2030 programme. You will plan studies and innovations which seek to build evidence with a focus on social economic and political justice outcomes.

This is to be split between UCL East and the Bloomsbury Campus.

About you

You will have a PhD in a relevant subject or a closely related field (e.g Social Sciences, Engineering etc). With the ability to apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, including user research prototyping and testing. There will be a particular focus on design and implementation of studies and interventions to answer the core research question “What Works to get AT to the people that need it around the world?”
