Glyndwr Innovations Ltd (GIL), a subsidiary of Wrexham University, is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of large optics and optical systems, based at the OpTIC Technology Centre in St Asaph. GIL specialises in the manufacture of metre class, precision optical components and the design and verification of complex optic systems that are deployed in astronomical observatories, aircraft, satellites and physical science institutions. Examples of GIL’s previous contracts include components and systems for the ESO Extremely Large Telescope, Airbus, and QinetiQ.
GIL is looking to expand the team with the hiring of a new Metrologist to provide technical expertise and support to the production and engineering teams. We are looking for a candidate with a range of scientific knowledge and skills that they can apply to our testing methods and manufacturing processes to help strengthen and develop our core capabilities.
Job description and responsibilities
As a Metrologist at GIL, you will work closely with a small technical team of scientists, engineers and operators to deliver nanometre-level precision in the manufacture of large-scale optical components.
