Programme Manager - Engineering Further Education

Royal Academy of Engineering

We are seeking a Programme Manager: Engineering Further Education to lead on the Academy’s support for the engineering further education sector.

The role

As the Academy’s Programme Manager for Engineering Further Education, you will be responsible for the development of engineering-contextualised teaching & learning resources and associated teacher and lecturer training.  You will also work closely with our external supplier to support the development of business and entrepreneurship resources and competitions for engineering students, before leading on the roll-out of these activities to further education colleges in the regions.  You will work closely with the Academy’s Enterprise Hub and its regional enterprise leads in four regions of the UK to coordinate face-to-face delivery as well as taking advantage of digital technologies for virtual delivery where appropriate.

You will be at the forefront of our work to upskill engineering teachers and lecturers and provide the next generation of new, advanced, and higher qualified technicians with the crucial skills required to work in areas critical to economic growth, including entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, sustainability, and the net zero carbon economy.

This is a great opportunity for anyone with the skills for the role who wants to make a difference at a national level in support of the levelling up agenda. You will have the opportunity to develop deep and meaningful relationships with colleges and industry as well as travelling across the UK to deliver the training and support that meet the needs of our stakeholders.

Our education and skills activities are focused on addressing the UK’s engineering skills challenge.  We work across all phases of education to encourage greater numbers of people – and people from a more diverse range of backgrounds – to become engineers and technicians.

Who are we?

Engineering matters. It shapes our everyday lives, from our ability to turn the lights on, have a hot shower and commute into work, to the mobile phones we rely on to keep connected. Together we’re working to tackle the greatest challenges of our age.

With a diverse workforce and an inclusive and supportive culture, we look to attract candidates from wide and different backgrounds who have a passion for the role engineering plays in society. Our aim is to make the Academy the best place to work for the staff we have and those we seek to attract.
