Do you have previous supervisory experience? Are you looking for an exciting and challenging role whereby you will be supported fully to develop further?

The Curation and Discovery Supervisor coordinates, supervises, supports and develops the work of the Curation and Discovery Team,  working closely with the Collections Manager to set priorities. Coordinates with colleagues across matrix Learning and Research Resources (LRR) Teams to contribute to section wide service improvements for curation and discovery activity.

As a Curation and Discovery Supervisor, you can expect to be involved in: 

  • Line managing the Curation and Discovery Team, responsible for planning and prioritisation of team resource, to ensure resilient and efficient delivery of divisionally focused services, including service and enquiry triage rotas, training, guidance and events.
  • Coordinating the work of Administrators and Assistants, working closely with the Collections Manager and the Content Fulfilment Supervisor to allocate work, set priorities, monitor team performance and develop team capabilities.
  • Provides specialist advice to Collections Management and LRR staff on curation and metadata practices and processes, including description of resources, management of e-resources and bibliographic database management, to benefit from sector developments, standards and best practice.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Formal or vocational qualifications (A levels, NVQ level 3, City and Guilds, AAT), or the equivalent work experience in a relevant role.
  • Good IT skills, experience with library systems and databases functionality, and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to line manage, develop and support staff.
  • Experience of data input, checking, reporting and editing for metadata records, including working knowledge of several of the following curation & discovery standards - RDA, MARC21, Dublin Core, RIOXX, ISAD (G), LCC, LCSH
