DC Microgrids (MG) connect various renewable generations and energy storages and play a vital role for the goal of Net Zero. The overall management of the DC MG relies on information and communication technologies among power electronics interfaces. Power and data dual modulation based on power electronics interfaces provides a new solution to effectively integrate reliable communication so that data can be generated and transmitted through power conversion with low cost but high reliability, high real-time performance and high synchronization with power flow.
The research will focus on modelling of power electronic converters, DC MG analysis from both power electronics and communication perspectives, control and management of DC MG, and simulations/experiments for verification and optimisation.
This project provides an exciting opportunity for successful candidate to explore in the interdisciplinary area of power electronics, communication and control. Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) at Loughborough University will also provide multidisciplinary support with advanced platforms and equipment of renewable generations and energy storages.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with experiences across a wide range of potentially advantageous disciplines, including (but not exclusive to) electrical engineering, communication, and control.
