About the role

We are looking for a creative Senior Communications Officer who will drive our work to convene diverse voices to spark debate and inspire action. Working across events, podcasts and digital content, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility of ODI’s research.

Working with ODI’s Public Affairs and Communications team, the Senior Communications Officer will work creatively to enhance the impact of ODI’s work on policy and practice, and build our reach and influence globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of ODI’s world class events programme. This will include ODI’s own public events and roundtables, which routinely attract heads of state, top experts and policy-makers; and ODI’s engagement at key international fora, such as COP and the World Economic Forum Annual Meetings in Davos.
  • Working on ODI’s flagship Think Change podcast, pitching content ideas, securing compelling guests, and producing creative content to promote the show and grow its audience
  • Working with our digital team to engage our substantial online audiences across social media channels and newsletters, creating content and supporting effective planning and internal communications.

About you

  • Educated to at least degree level.
  • Substantial experience in a comparable communications post, and of working in a communications team with multidisciplinary responsibilities (publications, digital, public affairs, media).
  • Experience delivering corporate events.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms, particularly X and LinkedIn.
  • Excellent IT and data management skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and from different cultures.
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
