The University of St Andrews wishes to appoint an Academic Fellow in General Practice in collaboration with NHS Education for Scotland (NES).

This is a fixed term Academic Fellowship suitable for:

1. Early career applicants who are about to complete or who have completed Specialist Training for General Practice within the preceding 3 years WTE (in other words, we will take account of career breaks and part-time working when calculating this). Early career applicants can request academic time between 0.2FTE and 0.4FTE.

2. Post-doctoral applicants intending to apply for a post-doctoral research fellowship. Post-doctoral applicants should be GPs who are about to complete or are within one year of completion of a higher degree (PhD or MD). For these applicants, time since CCT is not applied. Post-doctoral applicants can only request academic time of 0.2FTE.

The post will be based within the Division of Population and Behavioural Science of the School of Medicine in St Andrews, but the successful candidate will also be undertaking clinical training in Scotland. Clinical training is an essential component of the Lectureship. The appointment is part of the School’s strategic plan (https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/medicine/about/school-strategy/). 

Training will be offered in general practice and primary care and health services research methods. The successful applicant will spend 0.2FTE and 0.4FTE time dedicated to research development and you will undertake or contribute to a substantive piece of research.
