An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant to contribute to a Wellcome funded CONNECT study working with Professor Andrew Gumley as part of the Psychosis Research Group within the School of Health and Wellbeing.
The CONNECT study will recruit individuals with psychosis and use smartphones and digital devices to collect active and passive data in a prospective observational cohort study design. We will use these data to develop and validate a personalised risk prediction algorithm for relapse. Additionally, we want to maximise engagement and information obtained from digital remote monitoring by asking the right questions, at the right frequency and time.
This full-time Research Assistant post is key to the success of the study. The post-holder will be primarily responsible for (but not limited to) identification, recruitment, and assessment of participants in the study. The postholder will also undertake protocol based psychological assessments (including administration of self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews and extraction of relevant data from medical records). In addition, the study will involve setting up participants on a digital remote monitoring platform (e.g. using apps) and supporting participants to use and work with digital devices (e.g. wearable devices).
The post-holder will also be a member of the School of Health and Wellbeing, in the University of Glasgow. The post-holder will work within the agreed protocols for the CONNECT study and, as an employee of the University Glasgow, will adhere to local policies, procedures and codes of practice. Recruitment for the project will be based initially in the catchment areas of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The post-holder will need to have excellent communication and liaison skills as they will be required to promote the study locally, and recruit from mental health services and with organisations which people with psychotic experiences use.
This post is full time and has funding until 31 December 2026.
