This BBSRC-funded post aims to understand the molecular mechanism of the regulation of sister chromatid cohesin during the cell cycle We are seeking candidates with a PhD degree in the areas of cell cycle regulation and chromosome biology or relevant experience, as well as a proven track record of successful research in these fields.
This position will be held in the laboratory of Dr Bin Hu and work closely with Chromosome and Cellular Dynamics research groups in the Institute of Medical Science, which is located at the Foresterhill health campus, adjacent to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and part of the University of Aberdeen School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. The appointed researcher will interface with our collaborators Professor Katsuhiko Shirahige at the University of Tokyo and Professor Jan Löwe at LMB, Cambridge, to address fundamental questions underpinning our understanding of the function of cohesin and how this might be exploited in drug discovery.
We seek individuals who relish the opportunity to be involved with research within a vibrant research-led academic unit, the Chromosome and Cellular Dynamics section in the Institute of Medical Science.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6, £37,099 - £41,732 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. Funding limited for 3 years from 01 October 2024.
