About the role

UCL Department of Political Science wishes to appoint a fixed term leave cover, Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Political Economy. The Associate Lecturer is expected to deliver a single module in Term 1 of academic year 2024-25: PUBL0098 The Politics of Public Policy. They may also be asked to second mark one module delivered by another member of staff.

This module draws on theories of political economy. The module addresses how specific political institutions shape and constrain the policymaking process. The module involves teaching basic game theory and decision theory in order to illustrate externalities, collective action and coordination problems, among other applications.

The appointment is a part-time, fixed term appointment covering leave taken by permanent staff, and will run from 1 September 2024 to 28 February 2025 (6 months) at 0.30 FTE. The appointed candidate will be provided with all required module materials, including reading lists, essay questions, seminar plans, and lecture slides. The postholder will also be expected to be hold office hours each week during term time.

The role will include lecture and seminar teaching, student experience and support activity, and personal tutoring. The postholder will be expected to first and second mark assignments and will also be expected to be available for office hours each week as required.

About you

We are seeking applicants who hold a PhD in Political Science or related subject, with teaching and research expertise in Public Policy/Political Economy.
