About us
This role is available for UCL Internal (secondment) and UCL external applications and is 0.8 FTE. The duration of the role is 9 months initially.
The UCL Urban Laboratory, established in 2005, is a university-wide initiative that showcases the best urban teaching and research at UCL. Our activities build on the full spectrum of work across the arts and sciences, including civil engineering, urban anthropology, human geography, film studies, urban history and theory, planning, architectural and urban design, development studies, comparative literature, and fine art. We co-convene the MSc Urban Studies programme (Geography) and launched a new transdisciplinary MASc Global Urbanism programme at UCL East in 2022. Teaching is linked to a new Urban Room and Memory Workshop facility based at UCL East, created for research-led, public-facing events (jointly managed by Urban Lab and School for Creative and Cultural Industries). The programme includes modules that are co-convened by course leaders based outside the department and faculty, and features teaching from international guest speakers and a large number of off-campus fieldtr ips, including one international fieldtrip for students taking the ‘global pathway’ option. We currently have an intake of approximately 42 students, largely from outside the UK. There are also students from other programmes who select out modules on our programme, and through use of the Urban Room and Memory Workshop facility we collaborate with other programme staff and students based at UCL East
Interviews will be held on Thursday 29 August 2024.
