Research Assistant/ Research Fellow

We are seeking an early career researcher with a passion for digital platform regulation and interest in further developing research and engagement skills.

The post holder would join our international team studying platform regulation in Brazil and the UK, investigating how these jurisdictions are attempting to hold platforms accountable for user safety, seeking to balance the mitigation of harms like hate speech and disinformation with protecting fundamental rights.

This role offers the opportunity to:

• Help design and carry out high-quality research (both desk-based and fieldwork) in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other researchers in the team.
• Engage with stakeholders from civil society, government, and industry to collaboratively develop actionable policy recommendations, including legal amendments, draft codes of practice, and platform content policies.
• Co-produce excellent research outputs on digital platform regulation to be published in high-quality journals and policy briefs, summarising the findings for a range of audiences.

This is a hybrid role, with time work on campus to be agreed. Some travel within the UK for fieldwork will be required.
