We’re here to create and harness knowledge, to deliver opportunity for everyone.
About the Role
Edge Hill University is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic clinician at consultant psychiatrist level (or within 6 months of CCT) with experience of undergraduate medical teaching and training to the post of Clinical Academic within the department of undergraduate medicine, Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. This is a newly created role in collaboration with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to make a major contribution to the development and implementation of the MBChB programme at Edge Hill University at an important time in its development.
You will contribute to teaching and assessment of medical students and Physician Associates across the medical school as appropriate to your expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to provide 4 sessions of clinical care (DCC and SPA) within Mersey Care. The area of clinical work will be agreed with the prospective candidates following a discussion with the DCMOs of MCFT. We will offer exceptional opportunities for research and advanced scholarship and work with you to develop a progressive career development plan.
We would welcome applications from individuals who have an established track record of research output/scholarly publication, although there will be opportunities to be involved in research and ongoing scholarship and professional practice.
This will need to be a joint appointment in tandem with clinical duties, between the University and Mersey Care. In line with Follett principles or another similar model, it is anticipated that clinical and academic PAs will be combined as part of a jointly agreed job description / annualised job plan.
For informal enquiries about this vacancy, you may wish to contact: Professor Paola Dey, Head of Undergraduate Medicine at deyp@edgehill.ac.uk.
About You

It is expected that you will also liaise with local education providers to enhance the quality of the student learning experience. You may also contribute to other programmes within the department such as the physician associate programme.
It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure for you from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
At Edge Hill University we value the benefits a rich and diverse workforce brings to our community and therefore welcome applications from all sections of society.
