Opportunity Overview

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Tradesperson to join our Facilities team!

The successful candidate will be expected to work across campus unassisted or within a team depending on the works being carried out, working closely with other trades and handypersons and at times they may need to assist or work alongside external contractors.  

Collectively we want to improve and expand on the Universities approach to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).  It will be part of this role to contribute towards creating an inclusive culture where all our students and staff recognise themselves in those that surround them and can bring their whole selves to the University.

Key Responsibilities

The Tradesperson (Electrical) will be responsible for carrying out minor installations, maintenance and reactive repairs on the electrical infrastructure and services across the estate. 

You may at times may be expected to work a flexible working week outside of the agreed shift pattern, this would be dependent on the needs of the business. This may include early starts, late finishes and the occasional weekend work. You will also be included on the out of hours call out call out rota within the trades team.

Whilst working on your own initiative in the main but also as part of the wider Estates team, your communication skills and exceptional customer care skills will shine through in this role, as you complete your tasks and tend to the queries and situations that arise daily.  As this is a support service, it must be provided in a professional and friendly manner, using discretion, tact diplomacy and attention to detail.

A bit about Estates and Property Services…

Estates & Facilities Services Directorate is responsible for delivering a full estates and facilities management service to the University, including property maintenance, planned maintenance and renovation, cleaning, security, caretaking and facilitating spaces for our staff and students.

The Facilities Management team sits within the Estates and Property Service Division.  Their core objective is to provide an essential and critical Facilities Management services across all campuses, to ensure the buildings and general estates are pleasant, fit for purpose and functional for everyone.
