About the Role
The role is part of the long-term expansion and development of high quality clinical legal education within Department of Law. The role will allow the QMLAC to develop from an advice-only student law clinic (which almost exclusively uses a model of external volunteer lawyers supervising student work), to a clinic which has a specialist qualified lawyer to add to the existing strengths of the Centre and which will deliver significant value to the community it serves.
About You
We are seeking a suitably qualified legal professional with a demonstrated passion for pro bono legal advice and the development of student education. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own independent or collaborative clinical legal education projects aimed at developing student learning and community engagement, and to develop and share innovative approaches to pedagogy with a view to enhancing the student experience in clinical legal education practice.
About the Legal Advice Centre
The Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre provides free legal advice to members of the public and undertakes public legal education projects in our local community (Street Law). Its two key aims are to enhance the education of our students, and promote access to justice in the community.
About Queen Mary
At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.
Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.
We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies and flexible working arrangements.
Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability.
