We are looking for a purchasing professional to lead our purchasing and stores teams in the Department of Engineering. Based at the Department's central site in Trumpington Street, the Purchasing Manager is key to the delivery of our world-leading teaching and research, which span a vast range of engineering disciplines and requires the efficient supply of diverse materials, equipment and services. We offer the opportunity for a professional to lead a strong team, work at scale in the University's largest department and gain tremendous breadth and depth of experience.
You will lead the purchasing and stores teams, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of both, to deliver a timely, efficient, and customer-friendly service. Excellent judgement will be needed to achieve agility, pace and value for money, while also ensuring compliance with financial and other regulations.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be either a member of an appropriate professional body, such as CIPS, or on the pathway to gaining professional accreditation. You will have significant experience of on-line procurement systems and experience in a procurement/finance or similar role. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential requirements for the role as well as significant and proven experience of leading a team.
