Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Library System Project Officer within UCD Library
Reference no - 017519
The mission of UCD Library is to be a leader in enriching the student experience, to empower global engagement, and to act as an intellectual centre for the UCD community.
UCD Library consists of five libraries, UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection. UCD Library provides library and information services to UCD staff and students. UCD Archives, Special Collections and the National Folklore Collection at UCD house collections of national importance for use by the UCD community and external researchers.
We offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to fill a Project Officer position. Those appointed will be responsible for supporting the project management for a discovery project initiated by the Library and funded by the Office of the Registrar. The 12-month project has been approved under the UCD Programme for Operations and Services Transformation (POST) for 2023/2024 [see the website https://www.ucd.ie/ucdpost/].
The aim of the discovery project is to develop the business case and quantify costs for a replacement Library Management System (including Reading List Management System).
The Library Management System is a core, frontline Library service used by the staff and students of the University to access and find books, journals and resources in all formats within and external to the Library buildings. The current system is no longer fit for purpose and a project to implement a new, improved system, responsive to the needs of faculty and students will directly, positively impact all constituents across the University. The discovery project is critical to the operation of the Library and the services we offer constituents of the University and forms a key pillar in the Library’s digital transformation.
