Role Summary
The Birmingham Centre for Strategic Elements and Critical Materials, and the Energy Materials Group has recently won an Innovate UK award with a consortium to develop novel separation technologies addressing the commercial and technical challenges around processing end-of-life Li-ion Batteries (LIBs). Researchers will be investigating separation technology efficiency, characterising separated LIB fractions, and providing a stream of reclaimed active material.
The postholder will contribute to the development and optimisation of new physical separation routes to recover critical metals from LIB wastes. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team with the researchers at the University of Birmingham (UoB) and with the other industrial and academic partners.
As part of this role the postholder will work within EMG and contribute to writing future bids; operating within area of specialism. They will analyse and interpret research findings and results; contribute to generating funding; and contribute to licensing or spin out deals with demonstrated commercial success (such as revenues, asset or company sales, IP generated) and public understanding of the discipline.
