About the role

The Project Manager will be a member of the Draper Group’s Operational team based at the Department of Biochemistry. The main focus of the role will be to manage the day to day activities of 2 UKRI funded projects; the EC OptiViVax consortium and an MRC DPFS award. The successful candidate will also support the Senior Project Managers with a variety of administrative and project management responsibilities related to a research portfolio which includes a number of pre-clinical and clinical projects to develop candidate malaria vaccines and other products. The postholder will have a background in biological or medical sciences and administration and will take responsibility for a wide range of processes, sometimes of a highly confidential nature, on behalf of the Senior Project Managers, interacting with pre-clinical lab teams, clinical teams and commercial partners, locally and internationally. The post holder will provide support in a range of areas, including recruitment, finance, communications, events management and scientific administration.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the UKRI for up to for up to two years in the first instance.

The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you

You should be educated to an undergraduate level in a relevant STEM subject or with a higher degree in a relevant STEM field. You should have experience of project managing scientific research projects, as well as evidence of writing and presenting complex reports. Excellent organisation, verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as being able to work with good attention to detail. You should show demonstrable skills in problem solving, working proactively and meeting competing deadlines. The ability and willingness to contribute towards developing and improving innovative ways of working is also important.
