The role:

The Learning Area Manager will provide effective leadership to the ILS and Advance to FE though setting clear direction for staff, enabling, inspiring, motivating and supporting them to provide the highest standards of quality to ensure outstanding learner engagement and success.   

These key curriculum areas of the college provide truly transformative experiences for learners. Many of the learners will have IDPs and will need additional and often bespoke approaches to support their learning. The Learning Area Manager will need to work with their teams to build a culture of ambition, support and inclusion so that every learner achieves their full potential. A focus on building confidence, progression  and celebrating success is critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the operational management of the Learning Area 
  • Leading change and driving the new curriculum forward
  • Developing new innovative and inclusive curriculum that supports the strategic approach for progression
  • Developing positive working relationships with schools and the local authorities to support the effective transition for ILS learners
  • Ensuring high quality, responsive and effective teaching and learning

About you:

  • First Degree in a related discipline 
  • Teaching Qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of local/ regional and national context affecting FE Colleges and education including curriculum developments 
  • Experience in developing curriculum to enhance progression and employability prospects for lower level learners
  • Performance management of staff
