The University of Southampton’s mission is to change the world for the better. As a world-leading, research-intensive university, with a strong and high-quality educational offering, it is renowned for its innovation and enterprise and sits within the top 1% of universities worldwide.

As an organisation we have more than 23,500 current students; 16,000 undergraduates plus 7,000 postgraduates and researchers, employing in excess of 5,000 full time equivalent staff, and with an annual turnover of over £500M.

The roles

The Finance Systems and Projects Team is undertaking a major change programme migrating Unit4 ERP to SaaS and we need some additional colleagues to enable us to achieve our long-term ambitions, whilst keeping our day-to-day services running smoothly.

We are looking for people who will:

  • Be responsible for the efficient working of a highly productive technical team through effective planning, workload management and delivery reporting.
  • Support the implementation of planned system developments and day to day maintenance, that impacts across the University community, to build continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively within the Finance Directorate, but also engage with internal stakeholders across the University to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Be keen to develop your own knowledge and share that best practise.

About you

You’ll have a proven track record of efficiently organising innovative work activities and engaging with stakeholders.

You will be able to clearly demonstrate excellent communication and project management skills and enjoy working as part of a busy highly productive team.

You will have relevant technical knowledge and a proven track record with Unit4 ERP milestone 7, WorkTribe and ResourceLink.

Working here

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are pro-active in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work.

We welcome applications from candidates who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment. We encourage applications from candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, people who identify as LGBTQ+; and people with disabilities. Committed to supporting our staff and students, we are open to a flexible working approach. We give full consideration to applicants that wish to work flexibly and those who have taken a career break.  We have adopted a hybrid working model across the university combining working from home with regular time on campus.

As well as additional benefits, such as a holiday allowance of 30 days annual leave, plus a further 6 university closure days and 8 UK bank holidays.  We’ll support your long-term future with access to a pension scheme, subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts.

This is a Full Time Permanent role (part-time applications would be considered for a minimum of 25 hours a week over 5 days for Level 4 roles)
