Education and Academic Services - Student Employability and Academic Success (SEAS)

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on Streatham campus and some from home.

This part time post is available on a permanent basis with immediate effect.

Summary of the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a 0.6 FTE Programme Officer (Interdisciplinary Pathways) to join our Student Employability and Development team within the Career Zone and take lead responsibility for organising and coordinating our flagship programme, Grand Challenges.

The award-winning Grand Challenges programme involves communication and coordination of a wide range of individuals including Professional Services, academic colleagues, student interns, postgraduates, suppliers and invited guests. They work together to deliver an innovative learning experience for students within an inclusive, supportive and creative environment.

The right candidate will be proactive and able to work independently with limited supervision: a motivated self-starter. Ensuring the programme runs effectively and offers a great experience for the students requires someone who has strong administration skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders. There is a need to effectively coordinate the wide range of activities/tasks required to deliver the programme ensuring activities are planned and re-prioritised as needed. This will require someone with good organisational skills and able to use Excel skills to track progress and use data to inform progress and planning.

Part of the role will involve the recruitment and training of student programme assistants and postgraduate facilitators with supervision over their activities and supporting them to deliver the programme.

The role does not involve delivering the programme over the week it runs, that week will require someone to be able to multi-task and be able to deal with a range of issues that could crop up at any time.

This will be an interesting, challenging and rewarding role for the right person, someone who is passionate about student success and has the skills and experience to deliver a complex project on time and to high standards.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role on our website.
