Module specification
As an Online Tutor, you will be required to provide academic support for the following module on the MSc Data Science programme:
Natural language processing
Machine processing of natural language is a key target for the application of Data Science techniques. It has a range of specialised techniques that are being developed in a large and growing research field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Students who take this module will gain a solid grasp and practical experience of those techniques.
In addition, NLP is intended to provide students with a grounding in both rule-based and statistical approaches to NLP, and combines theoretical study with hands-on work employing widely used software packages. The module focuses on text processing and does not deal with speech or multimodal communication.
Further module details can be found in the Programme Regulations, available here.
Candidate Profile
You will be a motivated individual who enjoys working with students and who is driven to support students to achieve success in their studies.
You will have experience working in a Higher Education Institution and have a computer science or related undergraduate qualification with good programming skills, particularly skills in JavaScript programming language.
Further details can be found in the person specification.
How to Get Involved
To apply, please submit your CV and a covering letter detailing your experience and how you meet the person specification.
