Reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance, this role is responsible for overseeing the University endowments and investment portfolio of c£300m. Our priority in managing the portfolio is to maximise investment returns in line with our investment strategy, while minimising risk. An important element of the role is to support the utilisation of endowment funds in line with the University Strategy and donors’ wishes. The role involves technical accounting skill alongside strong liaison and communication skills.
You will be an experienced and highly motivated individual with knowledge of working in a large complex organisation who is able to perform effectively under pressure, continuously working within tight deadlines and who is expected to work independently with little direct supervision from your line manager. As there are technical aspects to the role you will be a member of a recognised accounting professional body.
You will keep up to date with investment opportunities, market trends and regulatory and discretionary changes to investments and endowments. The role requires technical expertise to understand new developments and the ability to implement such developments into the University structure. It also requires communication and negotiation skills to inform stakeholders of the available opportunities as you will be required to make recommendations to senior management on potential new opportunities to maximise the impact of endowments and the investment portfolio.
You will work collaboratively across the organisation, developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in support of specific aims and objectives as part of service delivery and as part of various projects and initiatives.
As a member of the Corporate Finance team, you will understand the overall University finances and be engaged in the ongoing development of the broader team. Working closely with other members of the finance senior team you will support delivery of the University’s ‘Liverpool 2031’ vision for education and research.
A degree (or equivalent qualification) is required for this role, along with membership of a recognised accounting professional body (CCAB or CIMA) and relevant post qualification experience.
The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
