We are seeking an Impact Manager for our new CORNERSTONE Photonics Innovation Centre (C-PIC) Innovation and Knowledge Centre. The C-PIC vision is to take Silicon Photonics technologies from research labs to everyday life by enabling ubiquitous SiPh solutions.

If you are passionate about supporting cutting-edge research and innovation in a growing team of enthusiastic colleagues, we offer the opportunity to join a group that enjoys a working environment and culture centred around the team and that prides itself on being actively supportive of each another.

You will have the opportunity to thrive in a university environment while undertaking the important role of supporting the development of future technologies. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your career within a university culture focused on people, collegiality, quality, internationalisation, and sustainability. You will have the opportunity to discuss flexible working arrangements including hybrid working.

The aim of the C-PIC team is to provide a Silicon Photonics fabrication service to researchers from across the globe, centred around unique cleanroom capabilities in Southampton, UK (www.cornerstone.sotonfab.co.uk). Within the C-PIC project, we will distribute £2m of flexible funding to C-PIC members via a series of funding calls. Your role will be to develop and manage this process, from inception of the funding call, through to issuing award letters and evaluating the impact of C-PIC funded projects. You will establish effective systems to track, monitor and optimise the performance of C-PIC activities in line with our strategic aims of translating silicon photonics research into real-world applications.

You will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best researchers in the field of Silicon Photonics and will gain valuable, transferable skills, whilst gaining a deeper understanding of the Silicon Photonics ecosystem and the technology required to build Silicon Photonics systems, all whilst growing your personal network. Whilst experience of working in a research or technology environment is important, no prior knowledge of Silicon Photonics is expected, simply the willingness to learn. As a key member of the C-PIC delivery team, you will benefit from a financial training allowance to support your personal and professional development including in areas such as EDI, innovation, and digitisation.

You will have already established experience of delivery within high value and complex projects and have a working knowledge of delivering research and innovation funding programmes.

As an equal opportunities employer we are keen to encourage applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.

If you would like to opportunity to discuss this role informally please contact:

Tom Carnay, Head of Business Operations, C-PIC (tjc1v11@soton.ac.uk)
