This is an exciting opportunity to join the research team in the Magnetic Resonance and Precision Imaging (MR&PI) Theme in the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre. Key areas of research activity for the group are innovative imaging platforms, experimental quantitative physiological multi-organ imaging, brain dysconnectivity, and clinical translation of novel imaging technology and image analysis approaches, including radiomic and artificial intelligence (AI) based approaches. We have strong links with the internationally recognised expertise at the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre which will soon become the home of the UK 11.7T Ultra-high-field MRI facility

This Clinical Research Fellow post is aimed at early-career medically qualified clinical researchers at pre- or postdoctoral level planning a career in advancing medical imaging for precision diagnostics, prognosis or imaging-guided clinical trials. The fellow post aims to provide promising candidates academic training and support at an early stage of their clinical academic career which will support their funding applications for transition to an externally-funded fellowship or grant application. During the post the successful candidates will be expected to undertake a defined proof-of-concept or pilot study aligned with the current research priorities of the MR&PI research portfolio. Supervision and individual mentorship will be offered by a range of experts in imaging, biomedical research, MR physics, mathematical modelling and computer science.

Applications are welcome from candidates undertaking or planning to undertake Clinical Radiology training with evidence of a strong interest in imaging research and a track record of academic excellence.  Candidates will have the opportunity to study towards an MRes degree during the post. Successful candidates are expected to work towards a pre- or post-doctoral fellowship application and will be offered dedicated personal development and grant writing support.

The post is fixed term for 12 months and is available from 1st September 2024. Please note if the start date is delayed this post must end on 31/12/2025.  Hours of work are full-time (38.5 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 23.1 hours per week).
