Do you have a keen interest in cancer biology and a proven track record of applying data science approaches to biological data?

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the computational analysis of PacBio and Illumina sequencing data, from raw data processing all the way to biological interpretation. You will be reporting directly to Prof Benjamin Schuster-Böeckler, who leads a computational biology research group, but also involves close collaborations with many other experimental groups at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Medicine.

You will be responsible for combining and comparing data from Illumina sequencing and PacBio sequencing data. You will provide statistical analysis plans for studies and undertake day to day planning of work. You will support in generating information, presenting reports in a timely manner and contribute to research publications by generating files, data and reproducible code. Additionally, you will contribute to wider project planning including ideas for new research projects and design of research materials.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you hold a degree in a life science or computational subject, together with experience in PacBio data analysis, in particular the processing of reads and subreads for the detection of variants and working in a laboratory research setting. You will have excellent coding skills in bash and R and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Having an experience with RNA sequencing data analysis is desirable.
