This KTP project offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate to launch a career in industry with the support of company and academic mentors. Poppleton has joined forces with the University of Wolverhampton on this KTP project to enable them to develop novel approaches for the implementation of emerging digital design tools and digital twins within the ventilation ductwork supply chain.
Poppleton, based in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, are one of the UK’s leading providers of quality ventilation solutions. Established in 1924 the company has built a reputation for specialising in the design, manufacture, installation, project management and remediation of specialist ventilation ductwork systems to National and International Standards.
Your role in this KTP will be do develop the existing BIM based systems within the company into a new digital twin focused tool, encompassing data from engineering, design, fabrication and installation. This will involve utilising advanced 3D design software, developing bespoke applications and implementing other digital workflows including AI, supported by experienced engineers, and University expertise and resources. You will gain highly sought-after experience and skill development within the industry. You will be responsible for project managing this programme of work, bringing your technological knowledge to the company. Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of the latest CAD/BIM software tools and an understanding of digital twins. Knowledge of developing software and AI would be an advantage.
An exciting aspect to this post, and one that will build on your knowledge, is that you will investigate research and work with the University to implement emerging technologies into the creation of a new digital twin tool. This will facilitate the installation of complex ventilation systems in a range of advanced engineering environments. As a consequence of this you will be required to frequently work off-site and in an independent but highly professional manner.
We seek a minimum BSc (Hons) 2:1 or equivalent in digital construction, computer science or related field. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge of BIM software and some knowledge of computer programming using a modern language. Ideally you will have understanding and knowledge of AI techniques.
You should be enthusiastic and capable of working autonomously as well as in a team and be able to interact at all levels within industry with an inquisitive and innovative approach. Good communication skills are essential as is a flexible working approach and strict time management. A positive attitude and pride in your work, showing attention to detail and quality control are essential. Ability to balance technical issues with commercial constraints and demonstrate abstract- thinking skills are also key requirements for this role.

You will be employed by The University of Wolverhampton and will be based at Poppleton in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. You must be willing and able to travel independently both within the UK and overseas. It is essential that you are prepared to work within an environment of strictest confidentiality and consequently must have no previous criminal record or issues preventing access to high security establishments.
