An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join the School of Health Sciences to conduct studies on sleep and dementia. We aim to test a contactless, bedside sleep tracker to see if we can better assess sleep disturbance in people with dementia and find out how carers and doctors find using the sleep tracker. 
 
As a Research Associate you will contribute to most aspects the research programme, apply for ethics approval, collect, analyse and interpret data, write up results and present information on research progress and outcomes. The research will involve interviews, focus groups and both qualitative and quantitative data analysis under the supervision of the principal investigators. Training and support will be provided by the Principal investigators and the research team. Some domestic travel is required.  

You will have a graduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills directly relating to this research area and previous research experience would be advantageous. An interest in sleep and/or dementia is desirable.   
 
This full-time post is available from 1 September 2024 on a fixed term basis until 30 November 2025. 

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Vulnerable Adult Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to vulnerable adults.
