About the role
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Disability Advisor to join our well established Disability Advice team providing specialist advice and guidance to disabled students across all stages of their Sussex journey.
Our Disability Advisors are experienced professionals who assess the needs of existing and prospective students with a range of disabilities, specific learning differences and mental health conditions, and ensure that support packages and reasonable adjustments are in place and implemented.
Maintaining and supporting a diverse caseload of students with complex needs, as a Disability Advisor you will be a key liaison with staff across Academic Schools and wider Professional Services, as well as with external agencies, contributing to the work of the Division to support an exceptional student experience and effective support for disabled students.
About you
You will have sound knowledge and experience of working with people who have a range of disabilities. Equipped with this experience you have the ability to determine the suitability of reasonable adjustments and how to proactively support individuals within an education setting to overcome any barriers to achieving their potential.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to develop professional relationships with colleagues across a large organisation, and contribute positively to the development of policies and procedures.
Committed to enhancing the experience for disabled students, you will be a proactive and passionate individual who can be flexible, responsive and innovative in their approach to creating practical solutions amidst a fast paced environment, often with conflicting demands.
A strong team player, you will be willing to share your experience, knowledge and advice with immediate colleagues and more widely with the academic community to support all staff working with students with disabilities.
