Applications are invited for the role of postdoctoral research associate. The project in which you will be working forms part of the activities of the UNITE4TB consortium, a major public-private partnership sponsored by the EU Innovative Health Initiative and including major pharmaceutical developers (GSK, Janssen, Otsuka) which supports a worldwide early phase clinical trial platform for novel anti-tuberculosis drugs. The consortium will recruit up to 2000 participants worldwide in an unprecedented collaborative effort to improve the treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis. The evaluation of pharmacogenetic effects in the context of this innovative platform approach to trialling numerous multi-drug interventions poses unusual problems of analysis and interpretation.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team in Liverpool (Professor Gerry Davies, Professor Andrea Jorgenson, Dr. Tao You and Dr. Dan Carr) and with European consortium collaborators in the pharmacology work package. You will focus on methodological evaluation of alternative approaches to analysis of high dimensional pharmacogenetic data in the context of population PK modelling such as dimension reduction and machine learning. You will apply these methods to datasets generated by the consortium and will assist with real-time interim analysis of clinical trial datasets incorporating pharmacokinetic and safety in addition to pharmacogenetic data. This is a rare opportunity to advance existing methodology in the area and to contribute to a transformative intervention in the field of tuberculosis, still the biggest global killer amongst infectious diseases.

We are seeking motivated and able candidates with an excellent academic track record in pharmacometrics and/or biostatistics and who have the communication and collaborative skills to work effectively in a consortium environment with scientists from different disciplines.

A PhD in Health Data Science or related quantitative discipline, or with substantial component of Health Data Science/related discipline is required for this role.

Applicants awaiting a PhD award, please be aware that appointments start at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation of successful award of PhD, will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.

This is a fixed term role up to 3.5 years, with a possible extension.
