The role
The University Secretary’s Office (in-house legal service) is seeking a Student Case Officer to enhance its existing team. This will be a full time, permanent post but part time applications will be considered.
The Secretary’s Office provides a wide range of advice and support on legal and compliance issues to all academic and professional departments of the University. The Office's responsibilities include work in the areas of property and commercial law, employment law, intellectual property, risk management, data protection, freedom of information, equality and diversity, support/fitness to study, records management, staff and student mediation and dispute resolution, appeals, complaints and discipline.
What will you be doing?
We have a new opportunity for a highly literate and analytical individual to work alongside the University Lawyers and Student Complaints Managers to deal with appeals, complaints, support to study and student discipline in a confidential and discreet manner.
The role will include preparing comprehensive case bundles, gathering evidence to support decision making, clerking Fitness to Study panels, analysing student data and statistics, and acting as a point of contact to staff, students and parents.

You should be able to plan and prioritise your own work and be committed to resolving queries and providing a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders whilst respecting confidentiality. A legal degree and/or extensive experience of the relevant University regulations and policies are essential. Experience working within the fields of regulatory compliance and/or legal practice would be of advantage.
