The role

We are looking to recruit an Admissions Selection Assistant within our forward thinking, well established Postgraduate Admissions Team, at one of the leading Universities in the UK; University of Bristol.

The role holder will work within the Selectors and the Qualifications Team to process postgraduate applications and make decisions based on specific criteria, assessing UK-based and international qualifications.  Following established admissions procedures with minimum supervision, you will ensure that the admissions service provided both internally within the University and externally to applicants, meets the agreed standards and service levels.

What will you be doing?

  • Build close working relationships with a wide range of colleagues across the University and external stakeholders. 
  • Process applications, using the University's Student Records and other systems to store,
    retrieve and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform an initial sift of applications against basic academic criteria across all faculties.
  • Respond to queries from applicants and offer holders in line with Data Protection regulations.
  • Contribute to the wider work of Education and Student Success as required, with a specific focus on those activities which relate to student recruitment.

You should apply if

  • You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple systems and can grasp and retain new information and systems quickly.
  • You’re proficient in Microsoft Office and have experience of using databases and spreadsheets to log, manipulate and retrieve information.
  • You’re highly organised, able to prioritise and can manage several different tasks at the same time.
  • You possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have experience of providing a sensitive, customer focused service, by phone, email, and face to face.
  • You have experience of applying specific criteria and processes to enable decision making.
  • You’re confident working independently and can also work as part of a team, cooperating and offering support as needed.
  • You’re committed to continuous improvement and can respond positively to change.

Qualifications

  • Vocational qualifications (Pitmans, NVQ 2-3, City & Guild) or equivalent, plus some
    experience in a relevant role OR significant work experience in a relevant role/ relevant life experience reinforced by work experience.

Desirable:

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the work of the Admissions Office and the University.
  • Proven experience in using multiple email accounts and dealing with large volumes of email traffic.
