The University of Sheffield is seeking a Finance Assistant - Accounts Payable to join our world-class finance team in Sheffield, United Kingdom.

In this role you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our finance department. Your expertise and proven track record will contribute to the efficient management of accounts payable processes, allowing the University to compete on a global scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify invoices, ensuring accurate and timely payments
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with colleagues from different departments to identify payment priorities and address any questions or issues related to payments.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses to support decision-making processes
  • Assist in the implementation of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in compliance with University policies and regulations

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (grade A-C) including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications/ previous work experience.
  • Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of University's Financial Regulations and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
