Deputy Laboratory Operations Manager

About the Role
Following a review of the provision of our laboratory support services, the Barts Cancer Institute is delighted to be able to advertise for two new Deputy Laboratory Operations Managers to join our dedicated Laboratory Management Team to support our world leading Cancer Research Laboratories. The role would suit an experienced and enthusiastic technician seeking to further their development on a laboratory management career pathway.

About You
You will have a BSc in biological sciences or an equivalent technical qualification. Experience in managing a laboratory including training staff, maintaining safety documents, procurement of stock and equipment and managing databases is required. The ability to work independently is essential. Good interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with varied stakeholders is essential.

About the Institute / About the Project
The BCI is part of the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) City of London Centre whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists. 

The Laboratory management team is comprised of 15 people: support assistants, technicians, operations managers and a Principal Laboratory Manager. Together we support the BCI labs, overseeing all aspects of the lab including health and safety, equipment maintenance and provision, and laboratory organisation.
