We are seeking Teaching Fellows (BM BS) to contribute to the teaching and assessment of undergraduate medical students within the KMMS undergraduate programme. These roles offer an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team of medical educators working to establish and deliver an innovative and integrated undergraduate medical curriculum across all years of the programme.   

KMMS has been created to be a beacon for first-class medical education and research. Bringing together the resources of the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, our whole ethos is one of partnership.  These roles will involve working on the campus sites of both the partner universities in Canterbury and Medway. 

The subject areas/modules available to apply for are: 

  • Assessment (Applied Knowledge Tests – up to 0.8FTE/ 28 hours per week available)   
  • Anatomical Sciences & Clinical Skills and Simulation (0.2FTE/ 7 hours per week available) 

As Teaching Fellow, you can expect to be involved in: 

For roles focused on assessment: [0.8 FTE] 

  • contributing to the preparation, quality assurance, set-up, administration, and marking of assessment activities  

For a role focused on the anatomical sciences and clinical skills and simulation: [0.2 FTE] 

  • coordinating, administering and delivering small and medium size group teaching sessions   
  • contributing to the creation, development and evaluation of new and innovative course material  
  • acting as a role model for students and provide pastoral and academic support   
  • contributing to the preparation, quality assurance, set-up, administration, and marking of assessment activities 

What will you bring to the role? 

  • A Medical/Healthcare degree, or a closely related subject area such as Human Anatomy, Physiology or Biochemistry   
  • a demonstrable interest in teaching and learning, ideally with experience in teaching undergraduate medical and or healthcare students in a clinical or academic setting   
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills  

For roles focused on assessment: [0.8 FTE] 

  • Excellent attention to detail is key for this role. 
  • Some background in medical education and a keen interest in assessment is desirable. Training and support will be provided.  
  • Note that this role is suitable for remote working and can accommodate any working day. 

For a role focused on the anatomical sciences and clinical skills and simulation: [0.2 FTE] 

  • A keen interest in teaching Anatomy using cadavers, prosections and anatomical models and an interest in innovative learning methods to enhance Anatomy teaching is desirable 
  • Availability to teach in person mainly on Thursdays and/or Fridays.
