Navigation of the regulatory pathways to NHS adoption of medical devices was recently named as the “biggest challenge” in the MedTech industry. As part of a recently awarded, EPSRC funded, Place Based Impact Accelerator Account in the Acceleration of Community healthCare in Tayside (AICCET) we seek to appoint a Translational Manager who will identify the local barriers and develop pathways to guide navigation to access NHS resources. The successful candidate will focus on defining the processes and developing frameworks to guide and accelerate MedTech progression through the NHS clinical governance processes.

Who we’re looking for:

  • This role will suit someone who is motivated to find solutions to problems through initiative, creativity and determination
  • They need to have sufficient adaptability, robustness and flexibility to work alongside as well as guide multiple stakeholders

  • Adapt where priorities change in a fast-paced environment

Your priorities will include:

  • Coordinating the co-creation of a medtech translation pipeline to bring engineering and physical sciences research to solve health challenges in Tayside
  • Liaising with the NHS, academics and civic partners
  • Managing the day-to-day aspects of the PBIAA as they relate to the place (Tayside)

AICCET presents a unique opportunity to address health equity obstacles across the UK and internationally, using Tayside as the testbed for translating healthcare technologies that improve outcomes and access for all patients. This project is based in the Centre for Medical Engineering & Technology (CMET) which brings together academic and clinical research, teaching and innovation in Medical Engineering and Technology across the Schools of Science & Engineering and Medicine at the University of Dundee. CMET is in turn a partner in the Tayside Innovation MedTech Ecosystem (TIME) a conduit between the School of Medicine and NHS Tayside enabling the translation of healthcare innovation into clinical practice. The applicant should expect to work closely with the School of Medicine and NHS Tayside.
