We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual with industry or academic experience to join our Aircraft Structures team.
About the Role
The Centre for Aeronautics is seeking a talented and ambitious Lecturer in Aircraft Structures. This role involves developing and delivering high-quality postgraduate teaching in aircraft structures analysis and design, managing academic courses, supervising postgraduate research and design projects, and engaging with industrially sponsored projects.
About the Centre
Founded in 1946, the Centre for Aeronautics has a rich history of preparing engineers for the British aerospace industry. We offer world-class postgraduate MSc courses, support a vibrant PhD community, and provide CPD courses to industry professionals worldwide. Join our team of 45 world-class academics and researchers in fields like aircraft design, aerodynamics, dynamics and control, modelling and simulation, advanced lightweight structures, and sustainable aviation. Our extensive research portfolio with leading aerospace companies ensures cutting-edge academic content.
About You
You will be passionate about aerospace and the value of your specialized topic. Driving progress towards zero emissions aviation will be a personal priority. You thrive in a collaborative environment, taking satisfaction in supporting others through teaching. Professionally, you are curious and creative, seeking new solutions and applying ideas from outside traditional aerospace. Whether you're an academic seeking a postgraduate teaching focus or an industry professional looking for new challenges, you will find a welcoming, supportive, and ambitious team here.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced industrial airframe design and analysis engineers seeking an academic career. Candidates should have significant aeronautical structural analysis and design skills, preferably from an industrial setting. Relevant knowledge includes airworthiness requirements, metallic/composite airframe structures, fatigue and damage tolerance, CAD (CATIA), FEA (NASTRAN/PATRAN), structural stability, aeroelasticity, and structural dynamics. Both industrial and academic backgrounds with significant relevant experience will be considered.
