We are looking to recruit a full time, permanent Lecturer primarily to teach fundamental concepts related to pharmacology.

You will have a robust understanding of molecular and cellular biology as it applies to pharmacology, with particular emphasis on cell signalling pathways and molecular drug targets.

Familiarity with the drug development process, spanning from initial discovery through clinical trials to regulatory approval, will also be highly valued.

Your role will involve teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including our higher degree apprenticeships, and will include all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, including preparation, lecturing, tutorials and assessment, as well as teaching of practical or laboratory classes in life sciences.

You will also be involved with supporting students on placement or in work-based learning and will undertake administrative duties relevant to module delivery.  Additionally, you may teach pharmacology life science subjects on courses in other areas of the College such as nursing, midwifery and allied health.

You will teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and will be an enthusiastic and committed individual, able to create a vibrant, engaging learning experience for our students.

We are especially keen to hear how you can contribute to teaching in the following areas:

  • Core pharmacological principles related to molecular and cellular biology
  • Drug development processes and current trends in the field
  • Practical laboratory teaching related to pharmacology or other areas within life sciences
  • Interdisciplinary approaches in life science education relevant to our healthcare, healthcare science, biomedical and biosciences programmes

In addition, you will be expected to contribute to research outcomes - as part of a multi-disciplinary team - in an area aligned to the key research themes of the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre (BMRC).

These will enhance the research centre profile through publication of high-quality research, income generation and/ or knowledge exchange activities.

You will have a relevant PhD or be near to completion and will have strong analytical skills for data interpretation and critical evaluation of scientific literature.
