The Role
We are looking for a Researcher to join us to work on a pilot project exploring the effect of a commercially produced fermented drink on the gut microbiome, sleep, cognition, and markers of cardiovascular disease in late middle age.
You will be supervised by two experienced academic researchers but will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the research study. This will include recruitment of participants, and data collection. It is also envisaged that you will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the findings and the production of research outputs.
You should have experience of human (ideally dietary) intervention studies and at least basic laboratory and data collection/analysis skills. If you do not already possess the following skills, you must be willing to learn phlebotomy, processing of biological samples (faeces and blood), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, methods for measuring arterial stiffness, dietary intake, cognition, and sleep.
The team currently works in a hybrid environment, where researchers are expected to be on-site when their duties require it, and to work from where they work best at other times.
