An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Coordination Engineer to join the Next Generation Infrastructure initiative, to support the delivery of new state of the art facilities for the John Innes Centre (JIC) and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL).
The JIC and TSL are independent, international centres of excellence in plant science, genetics and microbiology, based on the Norwich Research Park. The Next Generation Infrastructure programme will see the development of new, and refurbishment of existing research and innovation buildings including laboratories, horticulture facilities and other technology platforms for two world-leading institutes.
The NGI programme is a key part of delivering the Institute’s Healthy Plants, Healthy People, Healthy Planet (HP³) vision, establishing a world-leading hub for UK plant and microbial research and innovation. This post will be based in the NBI Partnership Facilities Team and be employed by the John Innes Centre.
The role:
As a Project Coordination Engineer specialising in Facilities and Infrastructure, you will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating key projects associated with the Next Generation Infrastructure initiative. You will be responsible for planning, coordination, and implementation of facilities-related infrastructure projects to support the strategic objectives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate:
You will have experience in project engineering or management roles, with a focus on facilities and infrastructure projects and a proven ability oversee contractors and consultants by setting clear standards and ensuring adherence to design guidelines and Science Park rules regarding H&S and Environment. Additionally, you will have a track record of effective budget management and demonstrable experience of delivering efficient, effective and VFM services in a customer-focused, commercial environment.
The ideal candidate will have excellent IT skills with ability to work with IT specialists to produce fit for purpose facilities systems, strong project management skills and an excellent working knowledge base encompassing range of service activities e.g. capital planning, construction, asset management, project management, soft facilities.
You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English, as well as a NEBOSH Certificate and IOSH Health and Safety Qualification.
