This is a fixed term appointment for 1.5 years

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment (GRI) has established a new specialist sub-centre – the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx) – focused on leveraging, strengthening and amplifying research, and developing well targeted policy analysis and other outputs, by convening policymakers, and by providing technical support, assistance and capacity-building. This new centre will support the reforms necessary to deliver sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies and financial systems across Europe. We seek to appoint a Policy Analyst to work on policy-oriented research projects within the Monetary and Financial Markets research stream of CETEx, contributing to a major sustainable finance programme focused on the role of central banks and financial supervisors in the context of nature loss and deforestation.

The post holder will contribute to conducting policy-oriented analysis, writing up research-based policy-relevant outputs in collaboration with research and policy staff, helping in the organising and conducting of engagement activities, undertake reporting activities on programme progress with support from the Senior Policy Fellow, and contributing to initiating, developing and sustaining links with contacts and networks.

Candidates should have a Masters’ Degree in economics, climate/environmental governance, environmental/ecological economics or a closely related field, by post start date. They should have experience of conducting policy-oriented analysis on central banking, financial supervision, climate change or biodiversity loss, including in writing and collaborating with co-authors, in a timely manner. Candidates should have strong project management skills, with demonstrable experience of co-ordinating the activity of others, including the writing, review, revision, copyediting and publication of outputs; as well as demonstrable experience in organising workshops or roundtable events, bringing together stakeholders across different expertise (e.g. bridging the academic-policy gap). Understanding of issues relating to nature and biodiversity loss, deforestation, ecosystem services, taxonomies and climate scenario analysis is desirable.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.

We are happy to discuss flexible working requests for this role.
