Who we are: Independent Higher Education (IHE) is the UK membership organisation and formal representative body which exists to support, develop and promote independent providers of higher education, professional training and pathways.

IHE’s 77 members include household names such as the Royal Academy and Le Cordon Bleu, industry leading technical institutes Futureworks and Met Film School, new providers the Dyson Institute and TEDI-London and global education pathway providers Kaplan and Study Group.

The role: We have a vacancy for a Policy and Engagement Officer who will support our members through research, preparing communications, and coordinating networks and events. You will also support the rest of the policy team and manage the activities of our Student Advisory Board.

We are looking for someone with a passion for students and education more broadly. This role offers the chance to engage on a national level with key policy issues, working with some of the most interesting higher education providers in the sector right now.

The Candidate: This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with great administrative and organisational skills to develop their interest and knowledge in higher education policy.

We are looking for someone with high levels of independence and autonomy and brilliant attention to detail. As a remote worker, you will need to be able to manage your time independently but be proactive in asking questions of the team. Above all, you will be an enthusiastic team player and willing to pick up and run with whatever is thrown at you.

Working for IHE: IHE is small but powerful – we currently have 11 full and part time roles which means that we are all flexible, helping out teammates with whatever the priority is. We don’t have an office so we all work from home, meeting up with some or all of the team one to two times per month on average. IHE pays travel expenses for these trips.

We understand that while work is important, it’s not your whole life so we pride ourselves on being a very flexible employer. We are open to part time working, working at times convenient to you, and job shares. We also have an employee assistance programme to support you when things are difficult.

How to apply: To apply, please download the job description from our website and submit your CV and cover letter via the 'Apply' button above.

Don’t meet every single requirement?

Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We want to build a diverse, inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with everything in our person specification, please do apply anyway.
